Sama Sama means “together” in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines. In Indonesian, sama-sama is commonly used to mean “you’re welcome.”
Those meanings perfectly reflect what we believe food should do—bring people together, create lasting memories and make everyone feel welcome.
Based in East Yorkshire, Sama Sama is a family-run catering business specialising in authentic Filipino and Southeast Asian food, prepared using quality local ingredients wherever possible.
Whether we’re catering a wedding, serving a staff appreciation day from our horsebox or cooking at a local food festival, our aim is always the same: to serve delicious food with genuine hospitality.
Our Story
Sama Sama began through a shared passion for food, travel and bringing people together.
Mariel grew up in the Philippines before living in Denmark, Hong Kong, Norway and the Middle East. Along the way, she discovered new flavours, cooking techniques and food cultures that continue to inspire our menus today.
After making Yorkshire home, she wanted to share the authentic flavours she grew up with while embracing the fantastic local produce available here.
The result is Sama Sama—a unique blend of Filipino heritage, Southeast Asian inspiration and Yorkshire hospitality.

Head Chef
Mariel brings authentic Filipino flavours and years of international culinary inspiration to every menu she creates.
Her passion is sharing the food she grew up with while introducing people to the incredible flavours of Southeast Asia.
Rob
Co-owner
Rob looks after bookings, events, customer service and helps ensure every event runs smoothly from the first enquiry through to the final meal served.
He’s also the person you’ll often find behind the camera, capturing the memories made at our events.
Jadfrey
You’ll often see our eldest son helping at festivals, weddings and events, making Sama Sama a genuine family business.
